Dr. José Manuel Mascaro Galy is currently a Consultant Physician of the Dermatology Department at Clinic Hospital of Barcelona, as well as the head professor of Dermatology at Barcelona University.
Graduated in medicine from Barcelona University in 1988. In 1990, after graduating first in his class at MIR he began his residency in dermatology at the Department of Dermatology at the Clinic Hospital of Barcelona. Subsequently he was for 2 years in the Department of Dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee (United States) where he made a research fellowship in the field of the blistering diseases autoimmune. In 1998 was awarded the doctorate at the University of Barcelona with the work “Lif studio of the role of the valence of autoantibodies of Pemphigus Vulgaris in the pathogenesis of the disease”.
It has also an important formation in the field of Dermatopathology. In 2004 he obtained the Diploma in Dermatopathology that grants the International Board of Dermatopathology.
Since 2000 he is a permanent member of the Department of Dermatology at Clinic Hospital of Barcelona, where he is in charge responsible for the hospitalization Dermatology unit, as well as responsible for the consultation of autoimmune skin diseases, and skin pathology of transplant patients. He is also part of the team of dermatopathologists within the Anatomy Pathology Service at CLinic Hospital where he is responsible for cutaneous immunofluorescence.
Dr. Mascaro has published over 100 scientific papers in national and international journals, as well as book chapters. He is a regular speaker at numerous national and international medical conferences, and belong to the editorial board of several journals of Dermatology.
